I mentioned in the last post that I had spent most of the day today trying to install Community Server on IIS7 under Windows Vista. I scoured through all the forums available on the internet and pulled on my hair and all my experience to no avail. I few hours ago, when I came home, I thought I will give the thing a shot once again on my home setup, which has an almost similar configuration. And voila! Community Server gets installed without any problem! As far as I can see the only difference between my home setup and the one at work was that the Vista installation at work was an upgrade from a previous installation of Windows XP. I should have never expected things to work out in the first place. Ugrading such monolithic complex beasts can never be 100% successful. I regret having spent the entire day trying to fix a problem (though not unsolvable) that didn’t really exist :)
